Gosh, I missed First of Advent!

I was so busy making the house look christmassy that I forgot to post something about our First of Advent. For you, who doesn't know much about Advent... It is a countdown to Christmas with 4 candles. You start when it's four weeks until Christmas and light one candle each Sunday. During Advent our windows also have advent candles and advent stars. Advent is the start of the Swedish Christmas... On Sunday it is time for the second candle...

It's so busy here at the moment. We have our son's Graduation from Primary school next week, we have two Swimming Carnivals this week, one dance performance and Christmas Carols as well. Next week we have the other dance performance and the kids have Christmas break up parties in their classes with Secret Santa and all sorts of fun before it's time for the Christmas/Summer holiday! Back to the grind at the end of January next year, but first we'll enjoy a well deserved holiday!

Jag var så inne i allt julpyntande att jag alldeles glömde bort att posta nåt Adventsinlägg! Det är mycket nu med julavslutning, men också allt som hör till skolavslutningen för sonen som slutar 6:an och ska börja high school efter jullovet. Så mycket som ska hinnas med - två simtävlingar, två dansuppträdanden och julkonsert... Barnen ska ha julfest i klassrummen med secret santa. Sedan blir det ett välförtjänt sommar/jullov fram till slutet på januari nästa år!

Today hubby and I went to several second-hand shops again, 

8 to be exact. We spent the whole day together shopping for treasures...

Idag var maken och jag ut på en loppistur igen. 

Vi besökte flertal second-handbutiker. Det blev 8 idag.

Vi spenderade hela dagen tillsammans och hittade en hel del skatter... 

Christmas at Vinnies... and two months until Christmas Eve!

The other day, hubby and I popped in to a Vinnies Second-Hand Store which we haven't been to in ages. I was pleasantly surprised by their Christmas table - heaps of Christmas stuff and really nicely displayed! I could feel the Christmas spirit!

I just realised when typing this that it is exact two months until Christmas Eve. Two months!! Holy moly, time has definitely flown this year. It's only 7 weeks left of the school year...

Christmas Eve is the highlight of the Swedish Christmas, and since moving to Australia, our Swedish Australian family always celebrate the Swedish Christmas Eve with Christmas presents and Swedish Christmas food on the 24th and an Australian Christmas on Christmas Day. Our kids are definitely spoilt by getting presents twice on Christmas, but I think it is important to celebrate both their cultures.

Häromdagen besökte jag och maken en second-hand butik vi inte varit till på jättelänge. Jag blev glatt överraskat av deras fina julbord som hade en massa juligt - och det mycket fint skyltat! Jag kunde riktigt känna julstämningen i butiken.

Kom precis på, när jag sitter här och skriver, att det är två månader till julaftonen. Två månader!! Himmel och pannkaka, detta året har verkligen flygit iväg. Det är bara sju veckor kvar på skolåret...

Vi firar svensk jul på julaftonen och australisk jul på juldagen. Barnen blir naturligtvis bortskämda med två julfiranden, men jag tycker det är superviktigt att fira båda kulturer!

Nine months until Christmas Eve

...time flies when having fun!

Hi all,

just realised that it's only nine months until Christmas Eve, Where has the time gone?

We are almost at the end of Term 1 here at school. The Easter holidays starts at the end of this coming week. The kids only have four more days until they can enjoy some well deserved time off.

Vart har tiden tagit vägen? Det är bara nio månader tills julaftonen... Här börjar skolterminen gå mot sitt slut. Kidsen har bara fyra dagar i skolan innan påsklovet börjar, då kan de njuta av ett välförtjänt lov.

4 weeks until Christmas Eve

Wow, time is flying! Not only have I been an Australian Citizen for seven years today (You can read about it here) ...it is also only four weeks until Christmas Eve - 4 WEEKS!! Holy Moly... Only a month. It is only two weeks left of school... 9 days to be exact. A six week Christmas Holiday/Summer Holiday awaits! So much in the calendar before then - Swimming Carnivals, Christmas Carols and Break Up Christmas Party for both kids.

Wow, nu flyger verkligen tiden iväg! Inte nog med att  har jag varit australisk medborgare i sju år (Läs mer här) ...det är även julafton om fyra veckor - 4 VECKOR!! Himmel och pannkaka... en månad.Det är bara två veckor kvar på skolåret...  9 dagar kvar, om man ska vara exakt. Ett 6 veckors jullov/sommarlov väntar! Det är massor i kalendern innan dess - simtävlingar, julkonsert och julfest i båda klasserna.

Mum and I have been window shopping... so much fun to see at the shopping centres! We saw this Christmas display at the candle shop chain Dusk.
